Hammers continue a positive start as “rookie” Baka dragged to their second defeat

Going into the game, Mzuzu City Hammers, formerly Ekwendeni Hammers were sixth but they have lifted themselves to the first position after a commanding performance against Baka City.

From the start, Hammers looked in front of the game. Isaac Msiska had tried the keeper but his effort missed the target. It was promising, the hosts had the lead after 29 minutes from kick-off. Isaiah Nyirenda had his shot saved by Berthaz Nyirongo but Msiska pounced on the rebound to give the Hammers a deserved lead.

Wongan Lungu newly extended the lead for the hosts but his curling effort went marginally wide. After the recess, Chimwemwe Chunga was found by Chawangwa Mkandawire but he failed to tap in.

Captain, Yasin Rashid extended the lead for the hosts with a super finish. However, the visitors replied back with a sublime strike from Eddie Mwambungu.

Baka City lost their opening game against Karonga United and they have lost their two opening games.
