“I think the nation and everyone out there can dream. We are on the ball right now and it is a lot of work that needs to be done right now before we can even think of that. Sweat, tears and maybe blood will be required. We must take it game by game. Improve the players, improve the team and it’s important that we keep giving it our all” said the former Warriors captain now coach.

In another Group H game, Liberia claimed a late 1-0 win over struggling Sao Tome at the Municipal Stadium of Oujda Stadium in Oujda.

Sao Tome who are yet to win a game since 2022 were hoping to bounce back after a 3-1 defeat to Malawi on Thursday at Bingu National Stadium and they managed to keep the visitors at bay but Sheiky Sessay’s late strike was enough for Liberia to snatch a win.

Following the win, Liberia who are under the titulage of former Flames Coach, Mario Marian Marinica have pipped Malawi to third on the table with 7 points from four games while Sao Tome are at the very foot of the table with 0 points from four games.

Meanwhile, Patrick Mabedi said Malawi should not read much into other group members saying the Flames should understand their own objectives.

He said, “Of course, it is good for us to look further [in the competition], but I am not looking at how other teams are doing. We should focus on ourselves and then in the end we can see where we stand. We need to understand our objective. We need to take a game at a time and not focus on how others are doing.”
