The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has announced that Chintheche United and Jenda United failed to travel to their respective match venues due to the ongoing fuel scarcity in the country.
Nkhatabay-based Chintheche United were scheduled to face Chilumba Barracks at Chitipa Stadium, while Mzimba-based Jenda United were set to play Ndirande Stars at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre on Sunday.
However, both teams were unable to reach their destinations and communicated the challenges to FAM, resulting in the rescheduling of both fixtures. The matches have now been shifted to Tuesday, 5th August 2025, with the venues and kick-off times remaining unchanged.

“Please take note that the matches between Chilumba Barracks and Chintheche United, as well as Ndirande Stars and Jenda United, have been shifted to Tuesday, 5th August 2025. This is due to the current fuel crisis the country is facing, as the visiting teams could not manage to refuel their buses to reach the match venues. The venues and kick-off times remain the same. We regret any inconvenience these changes may cause,” read a statement from FAM.
Meanwhile, two matches are set for Sunday, 3rd August 2025. Namitete Zitha will host FOMO FC at the Mchinji Community Ground, while Baka City face Bangwe All Stars at Karonga Stadium.
Two matches were already played on Saturday. Red Lions suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Mchinji Villa at the Mchinji Community Ground, while Mitundu Baptist secured a narrow 1-0 win over Ntaja United at Nankhaka Stadium.
