The Football Legends Association (FLA) has confirmed that Malawi Legends will host their Zambian counterparts in an international friendly at Champion Stadium in Mponela, Dowa, on December 28, 2025.
The fixture comes after the collapse of a planned Three-Nations Tournament that was set to involve South Africa Legends, Chipolopolo Legends, and Malawi Legends. The idea fell through when the South Africans pulled out due to unforeseen circumstances, leaving Malawi and Zambia to continue their rivalry.
FLA Executive Member Rashid Ntelera said preparations are well underway, with a Local Organizing Committee already established.

“The committee has sub-committees in areas such as finance, security, and competition to ensure everything is in place before match day. We are determined to win this time because our counterparts beat us in Zambia,” Ntelera said.

The two sides have met twice in recent years. In December 2023, Chipolopolo Legends triumphed 2-1 at David Kaunda Stadium in Chipata. Last year, the return fixture at Bingu National Stadium ended in a goalless draw.
“Statistics show Zambia has the edge, but this is the right time for our side to even the contest. Our legends are already preparing for the challenge,” Ntelera added.
Meanwhile, Champion Stadium owner, King Msaiwale Kabvina, has injected K30 million to support the organization of the match.
