Coach for the team, Gilbert Chirwa, said his boys sticked to his plan and approach to the game hence winning the match.
“It was a balanced game, we kept on attacking them and they were also attacking us but I told them to fight on and we got that goal I should thank the boys for the victory.” Said Chirwa.
Meanwhile, Christopher Nyambose, the head coach for Bangwe All Stars, said his team was poor in defense and also they underrated FOMO but said he will sort out all problems for the upcoming games.
“It was a good game, but a bad one because we have lost but talking about the play, it was good I think we performed better in some departments but we underrated them of which it’s the thing I warned the boys before the game so we kept them in the first half and they scored in the second half, its the first game, we will sort out all problems.” Said Chirwa.
The two teams got a tight first 10 minutes before Bangwe All Stars got two successive chances through Sheriff Shamama but we’re missed and also James Tambwali shot wide with Duncan Mangwaya missing his attempt in the first 20 minutes for the hosts.
Nyambose made two changes on 34th minute, introducing Aubrey Maloya and Patrick Phiri for Shamama and Gregory Mwase and the two teams were tied at goalless on half time.
Prince Kajore missed his two attempts in the first 10 minutes of the second half as FOMO kept on dominating the match and was taken out for Rashid Chilomo on 63rd minute while Maloya and Davie Tobias were taken out for Kondwani Chilembwe and Ghedo Lorenzo for the visitors. Hassan Luwembe missed his chance on 65th minute before scoring two minutes later for the rookies to lead then Josaya Duwa was sent in for Fanizo Mwansambo on 82nd minute for the visitors but late attempts from Phiri and Beston Jimu were not that dangerous for FOMO which picked their first win of the season.
FOMO are now on position three after the first day with three points just as Silver Strikers and Moyale while Bangwe All Stars are 15th with no point following the loss.
