A new generation of Malawian coaches, including former national team players Yamikani Fodya, Fisher Kondowe, and Peter Wadabwa, have begun their CAF C coaching course in Blantyre.

The course, which started on August 4 and runs in two phases until September 22, is a key part of the Football Association of Malawi’s (FAM) push to empower local coaches.

FAM’s first Vice President, Christopher Madalitso Kuyera, stressed the importance of the training during the opening ceremony at Mpira Village.

“The message is clear from now onwards,” he said. “Our coaches must take these courses seriously and apply the knowledge they gain here.”

Kuyera also urged the coaches to treat their young players with dedication, comparing the mentorship to caring for one’s own children. He challenged the participants to see the CAF C license as a starting point, encouraging them to pursue higher qualifications like the CAF A and B licenses to further their careers.

Another participant of the training course is Creck Sporting Club Assistant Coach, Harry Saidi who helped the team to earn promotion to Super League.
