FAM Adopts Top 8 Final ticket sales approach for Malawi vs Liberia clash

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has announced it will implement the same electronic ticket sales system used during this year’s Airtel Top 8 Cup final for the upcoming match between Malawi and Liberia.

The association has emphasized that no tickets will be sold on match day when the Flames face Liberia at Bingu National Stadium.

The electronic ticketing approach proved highly successful during the Top 8 final between FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers in July. The match set a new gate revenue record, grossing MK216,166,500 – nearly double the revenue generated at the same stage of the competition last year.

During that final, fans were informed that tickets would only be available through electronic purchase, with no sales permitted on match day. The system was well-received by supporters.

FAM competitions and communications director Gomezgani Zakazaka explained that the arrangement aims to eliminate unnecessary pressure on match day.

“This is the approach we have taken. We want football lovers to just enter the stadium without unnecessary pressure on match day. We believe this is the best practice we should stick to going forward,” Zakazaka told Nation Sport.

The Malawi national team arrived home this afternoon following a successful trip to Botswana, where they secured a 2-1 victory over Namibia.

Gabadinho Mhango and Richard Mbulu found the net for the Flames in that encounter.
Malawi will be looking to build on that positive result when they host Liberia in the 6pm kick-off at the Capital City venue on Monday.
