Newly promoted TNM Super League side Ekhaya Football Club have completed the signing of goalkeeper Joshua Waka from Blue Eagles, Wa Mpira can reveal.

The Southern region-based club have been actively searching for a new shot-stopper following the suspension of their first-choice goalkeeper Elias Missi.

While financial details of the transfer remain undisclosed, sources have confirmed to this publication that Waka traveled to Blantyre to finalize his move from the Malawi Police Service-sponsored Blue Eagles.

The experienced goalkeeper is expected to sign a three-year contract with the Cowboys and could make his debut in Ekhaya’s next TNM Super League fixture. He helped Blue Eagles to earn promotion to Super League last season and also helped the team to win the FDH Bank Cup after beating FCB Nyasa Big Bullets as he saved Babatunde Adepoju’s penalty.

The two clubs have reached an agreement for the transfer of the goalkeeper after Ekhaya met Blue Eagles’ valuation of the player. The Eagles are expected to release a statement later today on the matter while official unveiling of the players at Ekhaya will happen when the team returns from the Northern Region where they went to play against Moyale Barracks in the FDH Bank Cup.

Waka’s move to Ekhaya represents a reunion with head coach Enos Chatama, with whom he previously worked during their time together at FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve. This existing relationship is expected to help the goalkeeper settle quickly into his new environment.

Joshua Waka becomes Ekhaya’s third signing during the current mid-season transfer window, joining midfielders Blessings Malinda and Moses Banda, who both arrived from Civil Service United.

The acquisitions demonstrate Ekhaya’s ambition to strengthen their squad as they look to establish themselves in the top flight following their recent promotion.

The Cowboys will be hoping Waka’s experience and shot-stopping ability will help solidify their defense as they continue their maiden Super League campaign.
