The Malawi National Team will host Liberia on Monday in World Cup Qualifiers at the Bingu National Stadium, the game will kick off at 18:00 CAT.
The Flames are coming off a morale-boosting 2-1 victory over Namibia last Friday and will be looking to make it two wins from two in their September assignments when they play in front of their home supporters.
Head coach Kalisto Pasuwa provided early team news during Sunday afternoon’s pre-match press conference at Bingu Stadium.

Pasuwa confirmed that Mozambique-based midfielder Lloyd Njaliwa picked up a knock during the Namibia match, where he started alongside Yankho Singo in midfield. The former Moyale Barracks player was substituted in the 90th minute by Silver Strikers’ defender-cum-midfielder Maxwell Paipi.
The Zimbabwean coach also cast doubt over FCB Nyasa Big Bullets attacker Chikumbutso Salima, who missed morning training. Salima has been in excellent form this season, contributing 16 goals and assists in 15 league games (8 goals, 8 assists), but was an unused substitute in the Namibia match.
Pasuwa has ruled out defensive midfielder Yankho Singo, confirming he is injured despite playing the full 90 minutes against Namibia on Friday.
However, goalkeeper William Thole is fit for selection. The Simba Bhora shot-stopper was substituted in the first half last Friday following a dangerous challenge from Namibia’s Deon Hotto.
“In the last game we played, some of our players picked up knocks. We had Lloyd Njaliwa and Richard Mbulu, but they are okay,” Pasuwa explained.
“However, we have one player who has been completely ruled out—Yankho Singo is not feeling well. This morning I heard that Chikumbutso Salima was also not feeling well, but we will see how they are when we meet for our final training session. William Thole is ready and fully recovered.”
Malawi currently sit fifth in their qualifying group with nine points from seven games. They will be looking to defeat Liberia and climb the table to second or third place, depending on the result of the match between São Tomé and Príncipe and Namibia.
