The Nankhaka Stadium is set to ignite on Sunday as Blue Eagles host Silver Strikers in a highly anticipated TNM Super League clash. Both teams will be battling for maximum points in a renewal of their spirited rivalry.
Last season, these two sides carved out a compelling narrative in cup competitions. The Eagles, then in the Chipiku Stores Central Region Premier League, stunned the Bankers en route to their FDH Bank Cup triumph. However, Silver Strikers exacted revenge later in the season, defeating the Eagles 2-1 in the Castel Challenge Cup.
Historically, the Bankers have held an edge in league encounters. In 2023, Silver Strikers secured a league double over the Eagles, winning 2-1 at home and 1-0 away at Nankhaka — a season that ultimately saw the Area 30-based side relegated from the top flight.

Ahead of Sunday’s match, Blue Eagles caretaker coach De Klerk Msakakuona anticipates a tough challenge. “It’s going to be a tough match, as when these two teams face each other, it’s never been easy,” Msakakuona stated. “But we are ready for the match. We will be fighting hard so that we get maximum points.”

Meanwhile, Silver Strikers’ Peter Mgangira confirmed his team will be without Maxwell Paipi, Gift Chunga, Charles Chipala, and Precious Sambani due to injury.
However, Mgangira insists this won’t be an excuse. “We started badly this season because we lost in our first match, but after then, we have had some good performances in the games that we’ve played,” Mgangira explained. “So we are hoping to continue with the current performance against Eagles.”
Blue Eagles enter the match in fourth place in the TNM Super League with 12 points from eight games, boasting three wins, three draws, and two losses. They’ve found the net 13 times while conceding seven goals in their return to the top league.
Silver Strikers currently sit in seventh position with 11 points from six games, having secured three wins, two draws, and one loss. The Bankers have scored 11 goals and conceded six so far this season.
