Blue Eagles could extend their unbeaten run to seven matches in the TNM Super League as they face Karonga United at Nankhaka Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Area 30-based side have managed to record two wins and four draws, with their last defeat coming on 4th May 2025 when they lost 0-2 to Civil Service United at home.

A win against Karonga is vital, as they would jump up to fourth place, replacing Ekhaya FC on 20 points, and could move up to third if they manage to win by a two-goal margin or more.

Meanwhile, the team has managed two wins, one defeat, and three draws in the past six league meetings. Their last victory came on 24th July 2022 when Gaddie Chirwa’s goal inspired them to a 0-1 win, just as in the first round on 16th April 2022, when Chirwa also scored in a 1-0 home victory.

The two teams also faced each other in the FDH Bank Cup semi-finals last season, where Eagles won 2-0 while playing in the Chipiku Stores Central Region Football League, courtesy of Shinto Chipole’s own goal and Micium Mhone’s penalty kick.

Ahead of the match, Head Coach De Klerk Msakakuona said the match will be tough, as they will face a good side, but they are upbeat about claiming a win.

“We have prepared very well for the game. I know Karonga is a tough side to play against, but if the players do what they have been told during training, I think we will do better,” said Msakakuona.
