The Dedza District Football Association (DDFA) has called on more teams to register for the Castel Challenge Cup ahead of its official kickoff this weekend.
Treasurer for the association, Christopher Rubah Zinyongo, made the appeal, indicating that only 14 teams have registered for the competition so far.
He described the competition as an opportunity for rural-based teams to showcase their skills, hence the need for more teams to register.
“The door is still open for teams to register until the weekend, as we need more teams to be part of the country’s biggest cup competition,” said Zinyongo.

Official matches in the preliminary round at district and regional levels are also expected to start this weekend.
The preliminary round will be divided into three phases: district level, regional leagues, and regional playoffs.
Chimbiya Stars, currently playing in the Central Region TVM Division One, are the reigning champions of the cup in Dedza District.
