CRECK Sporting Club have launched the search for a new head coach to lead the team in the 2025 season, following the dismissal of Head Coach Joseph Kamwendo, his assistant Abel Mkandawire, and striker trainer Chiukepo Msowoya.
The club made the decision to part ways with the Flames legend on Wednesday due to a string of poor results that left the team languishing in the relegation zone of the TNM Super League and eliminated from the Airtel Top 8 during his tenure.
General Secretary Aaron Mtaya confirmed the development, saying the decision followed a disciplinary hearing held with the three coaches last Friday.

“It is true that we have parted ways with the three. We reached the decision after a disciplinary hearing on Friday, and we agreed that it was time to let them go,” said Mtaya.
He further revealed that the club would soon begin its search for a new head coach and would make an announcement once the appointment is finalized.
“Probably this week, we will assess and begin negotiations with several candidates. Once everything is finalized, we will inform the public who has been chosen to lead the team,” he explained.
The three coaches were suspended last week pending the disciplinary hearing. During their absence, Harry Saidi took over on an interim basis and led the team to four points out of a possible six—helping Creck temporarily escape the relegation zone.Saidi guided the team to a goalless draw against Kamuzu Barracks at Aubrey Dimba Stadium, followed by a crucial win over league strugglers Songwe Border United.
The results earned him praise from Mtaya.“He has helped a lot because we’ve moved from where we were. Let’s not undermine Songwe Border United—they have improved recently—so Saidi has done well. But he remains an interim coach, and we need someone to lead the technical panel,” said Mtaya.Under Kamwendo, Mkandawire, and Msowoya, the team managed only one win, one draw, and three defeats in the league. They were also knocked out of the Airtel Top 8 after losing 1–0 on aggregate to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.Currently,
CRECK sit 11th on the log table with eight points from seven games, following the recent addition of a win and a draw under Saidi’s temporary leadership.
