Civil Service United produced a commanding display at Civo Stadium on Saturday afternoon as they cruised to a resounding 5-0 win over bottom-placed Songwe Border United in the TNM Super League.
Inspired by a first-half brace from Frank Chizuze, the Civil Servants dominated from start to finish to record their second consecutive league win, a result that further distances them from the relegation zone.
First Half Brilliance

Civo wasted no time asserting themselves, taking the lead just three minutes in. A long-range strike from Dastin Banda was parried by Songwe’s goalkeeper Mwangosi, only for Frank Chizuze to pounce on the rebound and slot home the opener.
The hosts continued to dominate the midfield, with Dastin Banda and Malinda causing problems for the Songwe defense. Chizuze and Wallace Adam came close to doubling the lead, while Songwe sat back and absorbed wave after wave of pressure.
In the first half’s stoppage time, Chizuze was at it again, completing his brace to put Civo 2-0 up at halftime — a scoreline that accurately reflected the balance of play.
Second Half Surge
Songwe made two changes at the break, bringing on Josia Duwa and Wilson Lungwa, but it did little to shift the momentum.
Civo remained in control, and the introduction of substitutes Chipungu, Biason, and Magombo added fresh energy. In the 78th minute, Charles Mafaiti whipped in a teasing cross that was met by Chipungu, who rose highest to nod home Civo’s third goal.
The floodgates opened in the closing stages. In the 89th minute, Chipungu grabbed his second of the match, tapping in from a pinpoint Biason cross. Moments later, in stoppage time, Biason turned from provider to scorer, sealing a dominant 5-0 win for the hosts.
Man of the Match
Unsurprisingly, Frank Chizuze was named Man of the Match for his first-half heroics and relentless attacking threat throughout the game.

What It Means
The win sees Civil Service United continue their recent resurgence, pulling further away from the relegation zone with another crucial three points. For Songwe Border United, the defeat keeps them rooted near the bottom of the standings, with their goal difference taking another major hit.
