Ramadhan Ntafu scored the 2024 TNM Super League first hat trick of the season that helped Chitipa United pick their first win of the season in a 4-1 over Karonga United at the Karonga United on Sunday afternoon.
The Basongo had to bounce back from a 2-0 loss in the first game against Silver Strikers with scoring four goals in the 55 minutes of the game before Karonga controlling the game as Blessings Mwalilino got a consolation goal on 73rd minute.
Assistant coach for Basongo, Elvis Kafoteka, thanked his boys for the brilliant performance that earned them the victory but said they need to sort out some problems encountered in the match.

“I’m very happy that we have picked out first win of the season in style, we started on a high note and got the goals I need to thank the boys for the amazing performance displayed today.” Said Kafoteka.
Meanwhile, Trevor Kajawa, head coach for Karonga United said his team was wasteful in front of goal that’s why Chitipa United punished them.
“I think we lost our form today, we created chances but we missed then our friends got chances they scored so in Football when you miss chances you are punished, we will go back in training and solve these problems.” Said Kajawa.
Chitipa United had an attacking mind from the word go as Ramadhan Ntafu opened the scores on 9th minute before doubling it on 24th minute following a defensive error by Karonga who reached by making three changes, introducing Nanson Mbewe, Saulos Moyo and Blessings Mwalilino for Alfred Chizinga, Obi Rafael and Geoffrey Kaziche on 33rd minute. The changes brought an impact as Mwalilino missed two chances before half time as Chitipa still led by two goals.
Ntafu completed his hat trick on 52nd minute with a fine finish before Stimella Muyira adding fourth two minutes later to put Basongo on a comfortable lead then Chitipa made changes, introducing Peter Mughogho, Gideon Sululu and Osamba Mbagha for Symon Mwandala, Ken Mlenga and Andrew Chawira then Blessings Mwalilino got his second goal of the season on 73rd minute with was a consolation.
Following the win, Chitipa United has moved from 16th to 6th with three points from two games they have played this season while Karonga are 8th with three points as well.
