Central Region Football Association TVM Division One champions Chimbiya Stars are setting their sights on success in the Chipiku Premier Division next season, with ultimate ambitions of reaching the National Division League.
Chimbiya Stars burst onto the scene in 2024 in Dedza District when they first competed in the Saint Louis High School Dedza District Football League. It was a memorable debut season as they claimed the championship plus two other district cups, surprising many observers.

After conquering the district competitions, club senior member Stampa Malu Chisoni revealed their ambition to play in the Chipiku Premier Division. However, Central Region Football Association (CRFA) rules and standards required them to start in Division One rather than the Premier Division, beginning with the play-offs.
The team exceeded expectations and secured a place in the TVM Division One league, sponsored by Apostle Vitumbiko Mkandawire of Time for Victory Ministries, for the 2025 season.
In the competition’s first phase, they were joined by fellow Dedza side Lobi Young Soccer, creating an interesting local rivalry. Both teams advanced to the final phase involving eight teams.
The campaign started slowly, with both Dedza teams struggling in their opening fixtures. Chimbiya Stars finished the first round in fourth place with 11 points, while Lobi Young Soccer finished bottom with just 5 points, their only victory coming against Chimbiya Stars.
The second round told a different story. Chimbiya Stars found their rhythm, collecting an impressive 19 points from a possible 21 in seven games. They concluded the season with 30 points, four ahead of second-placed Mponela FC and five clear of third-placed Kalembelembe FC. The top three teams automatically qualified for the Chipiku Premier Division.
In two consecutive seasons, Chimbiya Stars have claimed championship titles in leagues where they were debutants. Malu Chisoni said they plan to replicate this success in the Premier Division to advance to the National Division League.
“We are aiming high and our target is simple—to have this team in the elite league in the next three to four years,” Malu revealed.
He urged all stakeholders in Dedza to support their mission from every angle to make this dream a reality.
“Our mission is to have at least two teams playing in the TNM Super League from Dedza,” he added.
Dedza District Football Association (DDFA) Chairperson Chiku Watson Babu has congratulated Chimbiya Stars for their achievement.
Commenting on the team’s vision, Dedza District coach Christopher Zinyongo believes they have what it takes to realize their ambitions.
“They are well organized, and if they can maintain that standard in the Premier Division, they will perform wonders again,” Zinyongo said.
The experienced coach, who jointly with Chifundo Chisasula Baison guided Goshen City Dedza Dynamos FC to TNM Super League football from the same Premier Division in 2021, advised the team’s players to maintain discipline during the off-season holiday.
