Former FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Flames defender Charles Petro has committed his future to Romanian club FC Botoșani, signing a new two-year contract extension.
The 25-year-old center-back has penned a deal that will keep him at the Liga I club until 2028, FC Botoșani announced in a statement released earlier this week.

“Player Charles Petro has extended his contract with FC Botoșani. ‘Petrică’ has signed a new agreement with the ‘red-white-blue’ team, valid for another two years,” the club stated.
Born on February 8, 2001, Petro joined FC Botoșani in the winter transfer window of 2023 from Moldovan champions Sheriff Tiraspol. His move to Sheriff came after an outstanding debut season with FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in the 2020 TNM Super League campaign.
The defender’s impressive performances during his first season with the People’s Team earned him his maiden call-up to the Malawi national team. His stellar displays at the back also saw him crowned TNM Super League Defender of the Season in 2019.
Since making the leap to European football, Petro has established himself as a reliable presence in the FC Botoșani defense. The contract extension is a testament to his consistent performances and the trust the Romanian club has placed in the Malawian international.
The new deal ensures Petro will continue his development in Romanian football while representing Malawi at international level for the foreseeable future.
