FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women got their first ever National Bank of Malawi National Women’s Premiership victory after beating MK Academy 3-0 in a match played at the Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Vanessa Issa opened the scores 8 minutes into the game after she received a ball from Mary Chavinda, who got her first goal on her return to the club on 26th minute and Issa netted her second of the day in the added time to seal the win.

Head coach for the team, Maggie Chombo-Sadick, was happy with the win saying the needed it as they began the League with a loss.
“It was a good game, we came to attack today as we used two strikers upfront and it worked so a win is good for us, we can say we have started our journey in the League.” Said Chombo-Sadick.
On his part, Head coach for the Visitors, Dan Sibale, said his girls were afraid a bit in the first half but thanked them for the good display in the game.
“I have to thank the girls for their performance today, we have lost and congratulations to Bullets but my team tried hard. We struggled because we were afraid and also playing on the turf for the first time but we were good.” Said Sibale.
The People’s team moved up to fourth on the log table with three points from one win and one loss while MK Academy are 8th with just a point from one draw and one defeat.
Meanwhile, Silver Strikers Women moved up to the second on the table after thumping Moyale Sisters 4-0 at the Silver Stadium to claim their second win of the season.
Yamikani Mhango opened the scores on 6th minute before Rhoda Chikuse doubling it 7 minutes before half time and in the second half, Ireen Khumalo and Deborah Henry got a goal each to consolidate the hammering.
Head coach for the Bankers, Andrew Chikhosi, was happy to have collected maximum points as they only wanted a win in the game.
“I’m very happy for the win and I thank the girls for playing according to instructions, we wanted nothing but a win from this game so I’m happy for that.” Said Chikhosi.
On his part, Davie Kachingwe who is an assistant coach for Moyale Sisters said his team was not that bad but faced a good side.
“We are a team that is just building up and we faced an organised team, a team that has been together for sometimes so it wasn’t bad for us as we have learnt a lot from these game.” Said Kachingwe.
The Bankers are second with 6 points from two wins, trailing on goal difference to leaders, Ascent Academy while Moyale Barracks are 9th with no point from two losses.
Finally at the Civo Stadium, Civil Service Women and MDF Lioness played a goalless draw in a tight match as both teams looked for their first win of the season.
Civil played a goalless draw against MK Academy in the first match last while Lioness lost 1-2 to Silver Strikers but both teams failed to unlock each other to share the spoils.
Head coach for the hosts, Collins Pofera, said it was a balanced game and thanked his players for their fight in the game.
“It was a good game as both teams had chances that they could have scored so it was tight and also that our players tried very hard till we got a points which was good.” Said Pofera.
Head coach for Lioness, John Kaputa said the game was very tight but earning a point is an improvement for them.
“It was a tough match, a hard match where we were coming from a defeat while Civil were coming from a draw so playing 0-0 today means it’s a slight improvement and also we missed our chances today that could have given us a win.” Said Kaputa.
The Civil servants are now 6th on the table with two points from two draws while MDF Lioness are 7th with a point from one draw and one defeat in the League.
24 goals have been scored since the start of the League last week and 12 goals have been recorded in Week 2 just as in the first week.
Ascent Academy, Silver Strikers and Kukoma Ntopwa Queens have two wins from two games as they occupy the first three positions respectively while FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women and Mighty Wanderers Women are fourth and fifth with three points each.
Meanwhile, all Northern region side are stuck into the relegation zone as MK Academy, Moyale Sisters and Topik Academy occupy 10th to 12th positions respectively.
