FCB Nyasa Big Bullets missed a chance to reclaim the top spot in the TNM Super League after being forced to a goalless draw against Blue Eagles in a match played at Nankhaka Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
The People’s Team had an opportunity to leapfrog Mighty Wanderers, whose match against Ekhaya FC was halted due to heavy rains on Wednesday, and to recover from derby losses that saw them lose first position to their fierce neighbors.

Bullets were also seeking revenge after being beaten 1-0 at home in Blantyre earlier in the season, but the final whistle confirmed that Blue Eagles have now taken four points from them in 2025.
The visitors started strongly, forcing three corner kicks in the opening 10 minutes, though none resulted in goals. Paul Master missed two good chances—one going wide and another straight at goalkeeper Precious Masamba—while Tonic Vivuyi headed wide from a John Banda free kick.
Babatunde Adepoju missed an opportunity to put Bullets ahead when he blasted his effort over the bar after Ganizani James lost possession. Crispin Mapemba, who looked bright throughout the game, sent his free kick over the bar.
Maxwell Gustavo made way for Ajussa for Blue Eagles, while Maxwell Phodo came on for Wongani Lungu. Mapemba then had his shot saved by Masamba before Master missed a glorious chance at 52 minutes. Vivuyi forced Innocent Nyasulu into a great save, and Laurent Banda’s shot went wide on the rebound.
Micium Mhone replaced Webster Banda for Eagles, while Ephraim Kondowe, Hassan Kajoke, and Peter Banda came on for Yamikani Mologeni, Phodo, and Pius Saka respectively. Lanken Mwale also entered the fray late in the match. Ganizani James tested Nyasulu with a long-range shot, and Kondowe was denied by another great save before the final whistle.
Blue Eagles head coach De Klerk Nsakuona said they wanted a win but acknowledged they were playing against a top side.
“It was a good game. Bullets played well and we also played well, but we had a lot of chances which we failed to score,” said Nsakuona.
Bullets head coach Peter Mponda expressed frustration with the result despite his team’s performance.
“I am frustrated with today’s result because we played very well and dominated both halves. We created a lot of chances but unfortunately we couldn’t take them—that’s why I am frustrated,” said Mponda.
The result means Bullets have moved to 50 points from 22 games (16 wins, 2 draws, and 4 losses) and sit in second position, while Blue Eagles are 7th with 32 points from 23 games (8 wins, 8 draws, and 7 defeats).
