FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have distanced themselves from an alleged steward, Thomson Chauluka, who invaded the field of play and threw a liquid substance at Mighty Wanderers goalkeeper Dalitso Khungwa during the FDH Bank Cup semifinal.
Chauluka was captured on camera in the 95th minute of the match entering the pitch and pouring the substance on Khungwa—an act the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has since classified as serious misconduct.
Following the incident, the FAM Competitions Committee fined Big Bullets K2 million and handed Chauluka a 12-month ban from all football-related activities.

However, in a written response to FAM after receiving the determination, Big Bullets acknowledged misconduct by their supporters on the match day but insisted that Chauluka is not one of their stewards nor a member of any recognised supporters’ structure.
“The guy [Thomson Chauluka] mentioned in the same verdict is not one of our stewards and nor a member of any supporters structure,” Bullets Chief Executive Officer Albert Chigoga told Nation Sport, adding that the club was consulting on the way forward as of December 17, 2025.
Despite the club’s position, the Competitions Committee found Chauluka guilty of assaulting an opponent and imposed a one-year ban from all football-related activities, including attending FAM-sanctioned matches, with immediate effect.
FAM further directed Big Bullets to ensure full compliance with the ban imposed on Chauluka, warning that failure to enforce it could result in additional sanctions, including further fines or points deduction.
In its wider findings, the Committee ruled that Big Bullets supporters engaged in violence and hooliganism in the 50th minute of the match by pelting stones and bottles onto the field of play and towards the second assistant referee, forcing the match to be halted for three minutes. For this offence, the club was fined K1 million.
The club was also found guilty of failing to take adequate precautions, leading to its security personnel abandoning duty, an offence that attracted additional penalties.
In total, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets were fined K5 million, an amount FAM has ordered must be settled before the club’s next official fixture against Mighty Tigers this weekend.
Both Big Bullets and Chauluka were informed of their right to appeal the decision to the FAM Disciplinary Committee within 72 hours of receipt of the ruling, subject to meeting the conditions set out in Articles 25.12 and 25.13 of the 2025 FDH Bank Cup Rules and Regulations, according to a determination released on December 16.
