FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Football Club found itself at the center of a social media storm this Saturday, as a fabricated statement claiming the release of eight players circulated widely across various platforms, forcing the club to issue an urgent clarification.

The fake document, designed to mimic official club communications, alleged that players including Blessings Joseph, Ephraim Kondowe, Clever Mkungula, and five others had been released due to “disciplinary grounds, poor performance and end of contracts.”

The statement, complete with forged club letterhead and sponsor logos, spread rapidly through WhatsApp groups and Facebook pages, causing confusion and concern among the club’s passionate supporter base.

The club’s official response, released through verified channels, emphasized that no players had been released at the end of the 2025 season.

“FCB Nyasa Big Bullets categorically dismisses claims circulating on social media alleging that the Club has released eight players,” the authentic statement read. The club reminded supporters that all official communications are issued exclusively through verified platforms, including the club website and official social media channels.

The timing of the fake statement was particularly puzzling, given that the 2025 football season remains very much alive. The People’s Team is currently competing in the Castel Challenge Cup, which kicked off last week, and is preparing for an upcoming fixture against Songwe Border United at Karonga Stadium on January 11.

The fabricated release would have represented a significant disruption to the club’s campaign—an unlikely scenario for a team actively competing on multiple fronts.

In their official response, Big Bullets urged supporters to exercise caution and verify information before accepting or sharing it. “Any information outside these sources is unverified and should be disregarded,” the club stated, reinforcing the importance of relying on official channels.

The club also emphasized that when legitimate developments regarding player contracts or new signings do occur, they will be communicated through proper channels as soon as they are confirmed.
