Mighty Wanderers Football Club Head Coach Bob Mpinganjira has confirmed that new signing Rajab Nyirenda will replace outgoing attacking midfielder Francisco Madinga.
Madinga departed the club last month after contract negotiations failed, with the Flames midfielder subsequently joining Zambian side Kansanshi Dynamos on a two-year deal.
The Nomads announced Nyirenda’s signing on Thursday afternoon, bringing in the attacking midfielder to fill the void left by Madinga’s departure.

The 25-year-old has established himself as one of the most consistent performers since breaking into elite football with Chitipa United in 2019. Nyirenda played a pivotal role in Chitipa’s impressive fourth-place finish in the 2023 season, contributing five goals and four assists from midfield.
His performances were so impressive that Chitipa moved quickly to secure his services with a contract extension in January 2024, successfully fending off interest from Bangwe All Stars.
However, Ekhaya FC managed to sign the talented midfielder earlier this year, though Nyirenda struggled for regular playing time and was subsequently loaned back to Chitipa United to maintain match fitness.
Nyirenda has now made the step up to join TNM Super League contenders Mighty Wanderers. The club has already registered him for their upcoming CAF Confederation Cup campaign as they look to strengthen their squad for continental competition.

Speaking after unveiling the former Chitipa United and Ekhaya FC midfielder, Mpinganjira explained his choice: “As you are aware, Francisco Madinga left the club after the expiry of his contract. We needed to find someone to replace him. Rajab is young and versatile. He has the pace and he can do anything with the ball. I believe he is a good addition to the club.”
The new signing expressed his excitement about joining the Nomads: “I am happy to join the Nomads. It’s every player’s dream to play for a big side. I hope I can contribute whatever I can to the success of Wanderers FC.”
Nyirenda will play at Lali Lubani Road for the next 24 months after signing his contract on Thursday afternoon. He joins Muhammad Sulumba as the second signing of the transfer window.
