The FDH Bank Cup match between defending champions Blue Eagles and Songwe Border United Football Club has been delayed after three Songwe players arrived without their match cards.
Songwe United’s team manager explained that the cards were forgotten in Karonga, though the players are registered on the Football Association of Malawi’s Mpira Connect system. The club is requesting that the match proceed with player verification to be completed later today.
However, Blue Eagles and the match coordinator are insisting that proper procedures must be followed before kick-off.

“As Blue Eagles, we want to verify that the players we are playing against are legitimately theirs,” said a Blue Eagles representative. “A player who is not registered can’t play against Blue Eagles.”
Discussions between both teams and match officials are ongoing. We will provide updates as the situation develops.
