It was a night that promised a triumphant return for Peter Banda, but instead, it delivered another dose of disappointment as the starlet was forced off with an injury before halftime in the semi-final against Karonga United.

Banda, making his highly anticipated comeback, had been a livewire for Bullets in the 37 minutes he was on the pitch. His presence was immediately felt as he seamlessly linked the midfield with the attack, showcasing the form that fans had eagerly awaited.

The quick-footed attacker nearly registered an assist when his pinpoint free-kick found Babatunde Adepoju, but the Nigerian striker’s powerful header sailed over the bar.

However, it wasn’t long before Banda was instrumental in the opening goal. After Andrew Jovinala won a free-kick on the right flank, Banda delivered an expert whip into the box, perfectly finding Chikumbutso Salima, who rose to thump home a header and put Bullets ahead.

Tragically, just minutes after his significant contribution, Banda’s evening came to an abrupt end. He sustained a cut after being elbowed by a Karonga United defender and was unable to continue due to bleeding. He was subsequently replaced by Chawanangwa Gumbo.

Further updates on Banda’s condition are expected.
