The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has confirmed that the Airtel Top 8 Cup semifinal clash between FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Karonga United will have a late kick-off under floodlights.

This marks only the second time local clubs will play a late game, following last year’s FDH Bank Cup semifinal between Moyale Barracks and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at Bingu National Stadium.

According to details released by FAM on Monday, the match between the defending champions, Bullets, and Northern Region side Karonga United will kick off at 18:00 CAT on Saturday.

Karonga United will be aiming for their second Airtel Top 8 Cup final appearance, having last reached the stage in 2019 when they lost to Silver Strikers. They secured their spot in the semifinals by stunning Mighty Wanderers FC 2-1 on aggregate.

Bullets, on the other hand, are looking to reach their sixth Airtel Top 8 Cup final. They have previously made five appearances, winning three and losing two. “The People’s Team” advanced to the semifinals after defeating Creck Sporting Club.

The other semifinal match will see Silver Strikers host Civil Service United on Sunday at the same venue, with a 15:00 CAT kick-off. Silver Strikers defeated Moyale Barracks in their quarterfinal, while Civil Service United hammered Mzuzu City Hammers.
