CRECK Sporting Club has suspended Head Coach, Joseph Kamwendo after a poor start to the 2025 season.
Joseph Kamwendo’s turbulent season at CRECK Sporting Club took another hit on Sunday as Francisco Madinga’s lone strike secured Mighty Wanderers FC’s fourth consecutive league victory, handing CRECK their third defeat in just five matches.
The loss leaves CRECK Sporting Club struggling in 13th place with a mere four points from five games. Their sole victory came against Mighty Tigers, and they managed to hold Blue Eagles to a draw. However, heavy defeats to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Dedza Dynamos, alongside the narrow 1-0 loss to Wanderers, underline their inconsistent form.

The decision to suspend Kamwendo was made on Sunday by the executive board but it was pending for the approval from the Patron of the club, Apostle Kawinga. The Club is expected to release an official communication stating the duration of the suspension and the interim coach to head the team.
The Club has also suspended Abel Mkandawire who was an assistant coach together with striker’s trainer, Chikepo Msowoya. The three coaches will be summoned for hearing on Friday, to explain the reasons behind team’s poor performance and results.
Meanwhile, Harry Saidi is now an interim coach, he was the Second Assistant Coach. The team will face Kamuzu Barracks on Wednesday in Mchinji.
Kamwendo replaced Macdonald Nginde Mtetemera earlier this season after working as an interim coach towards the end of the 2024 season, helping the team to finish 6th and qualify for the Airtel Top 8 Cup.
